Let \(X\) be an absolutely irreducible, smooth projective curve over a finite field and \(L\) a line bundle on \(X\). The Siegel formula expresses the sum of \(1/ |\Aut E |\) over the set of isomorphism classes of rank \(r\) vector bundles \(E\) on \(X\) with \(\text{det} E \simeq L\) in terms of the zeta function of \(X\). This formula was proved by \textit{G. Harder} and \textit{M. S. Narasimhan} [Math. Ann. 212, 215-248 (1975; Zbl 0324.14006)] and \textit{U. V. Desale} and \textit{S. Ramanan} [Math. Ann. 216, 233-244 (1975; Zbl 0317.14005)], and used there, together with the Weil conjectures, to compute the Betti numbers of the moduli spaces of stable vector bundles of coprime rank and degree on a curve. -- Later on, \textit{F. Ghione} and \textit{M. Letizia} [Compos. Math. 83, No. 2, 147-159 (1992; Zbl 0766.14003)] gave an elementary proof of the Siegel formula, by introducing the notion of effective divisors of higher rank \(r\geq 1\) on a curve (these are the duals of the rank \(r\) coherent subsheaves of \({\mathcal O}^r_X)\). In the present paper, the author generalizes the arguments of Ghione and Letizia in order to prove a quasi-parabolic analogue of the Siegel formula. This formula can be used to compute the Betti numbers of the moduli spaces of parabolic vector bundles using the Weil conjectures. These Betti numbers have been previously calculated by the author [\textit{N. Nitsure}, Proc. Indian Acad. Sci., Math. Sci. 95, 61-77 (1986; Zbl 0611.14014)] for genus \(\geq 2\) by a gauge theoretic method and by \textit{M. Furuta} and \textit{B. Steer} [Adv. Math. 96, No. 1, 38-102 (1992; Zbl 0769.58009)] for genus 0 and 1.
