A sharp lower bound is obtained for \(|f'(z)|\) in the class SSP of functions starlike with respect to symmetric points. As a consequence, some results, of whom some given by A. W. Goodman and F. Rønning, are improved both for SPP and the class of uniformly starlike functions.
