On the existence of solutions of non-linear 2D Volterra integral equations in a Banach space (Q2136592): Difference between revisions

The authors study the existence of solutions to the following two-dimensional Volterra integral equation \[ z(\tau,\zeta)= q\left ( \tau,\zeta, z(\alpha(\tau,\zeta)), z(\beta (\tau,\zeta)), \int_0^\tau \int_0^\zeta f(\tau,\zeta, \varphi,s, z(\phi(\varphi,s)))\, d\varphi\, ds\right), \] using a fixed-point theorem based on the concepts of measure of noncompactness and condensing mappings. Here, \((\tau,\zeta)\in I_0=[0,c]\times[0,d]\), \(\alpha\), \(\beta\) and \(\phi\) are functions \(I_0\to I_0\), and \(q\) and \(f\) are continuous functions such that \(q\) is Lipschitz-continuous in its last three variables and there is a boundedness condition relating \(q\) and \(f\). A number of different, but similar, equations and conditions are explored in corollaries of the main result. Some examples are given as well.
