In this paper the authors study the case where a direct system \({\mathbf X}\) is induced by possibly a proper subset of the set of maps between two spaces. In this case they examine under which conditions the direct limit \(X_{\delta} = \text{dirlim} {\mathbf X}\) is: {\parindent=6mm \begin{itemize} \item[-] a \(T_1\)-space; \item [-] a Hausdorff space; \item [-] a regular space; \item [-] a completely regular space; \item [-] a pseudo compact space; \item [-] a normal space; \item [-] an absolute co-extensor for a space \(K\); \end{itemize}} or is the space a combination of some of the above mentioned spaces. In the penultimate chapter the authors give an example where the direct limit is a completely regular, pseudo-compact Hausdorff space, but it is neither normal nor compact. After this example the following open problem is stated: does there exist a direct limit which is Hausdorff, normal and pseudo-compact, but not compact? The paper is thoroughly presented and interesting to read. In the last chapter of the paper we can also find an idea for further research.
