Let \(m_1,\dots,,m_s\) be integers satisfying \(0 \leq m_1 < m_2 < \dots < m_s\) and let \(P_h\) denote the family of \(h\)-dimensional subspaces of \(\mathrm{PG}(d,q)\). A subset \(K\) of the points of this space has class \([m_1,m_2,\dots,m_s]_h\) if \(|K \cap \pi | \in \{ m_1, m_2, \dots, m_s \}\) for any \(\pi \in P_h\). If every \(m_i\) in this set corresponds to at least one element in \(P_h\) then the elements in the set are the intersection numbers of \(K\). The author gives a combinatorial characterization of a non-singular Hermitian variety of finite three dimensional projective space via the intersection numbers with respect to lines and planes.
