The authors define a nucleus on an orthomodular lattice \(L\) as an idempotent, \(\land\)-preserving, increasing \((a\leq f(a))\) map \(f:L\to L\). These maps are completely determined by the central elements of \(L\). This result holds also for quantic lattices \(M\), which are complete lattices with poset morphisms \(m_ q:M\to M\) for all \(q\in M\) such that every \(m_ q\) has a right adjoint.
