The author studies the algebraic properties of the index of equivariant mappings of cohomological spheres with an action of a finite cyclic group. The main result is a non-existence theorem for equivariant mappings under some relation concerning the dimensions of cohomological spheres, connecting the equivariant mappings and the dimension of the set of stationary and fixed points of the given action.
