The author considers several completeness properties obtained by replacing in the definition of Čech complete spaces open covers with some other structures. The strongest of these properties is hypercompleteness (the open covers are assumed to be disjoint) and the weakest is almost completeness (the covers are replaced with almost covers --- collections having a dense union). The paper contains characterizations of the completeness properties, some mapping theorems for almost complete spaces and examples related to these theorems.
