The pointwise inequality for the fractional Laplacian operator \((-\Delta)^{s}\), \(s\in (0,1)\)\textbf{,} states that \[ (-\Delta)^{s}(\varphi(f))(x)\leq \varphi'(f(x))\cdot(-\Delta)^{s}f(x),\leqno{\text{(PI)}} \] for each convex continuously differentiable function \(\varphi\) (defined on the real line) and for a Schwartz function \(f\) on \(\mathbb R^n\). Firstly, the authors protract the (PI) to the case when \(f\) is a smooth function on a compact Riemannian manifold (Theorem 2.1). Secondly, they provide a version of (PI) for a Dirichlet-Neumann operator on a domain of \(\mathbb R^n\) and the proof is based on the Hopf lemma (Theorem 2.2).
