The authors study the solution branches of stable and unstable bifurcations in two-dimensional semilinear elliptic eigenvalue problems of the form \(\Delta u + \lambda f(u)=0\) in \([0,1]^ 2\) with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. The solution branches of the discretized problem are traced numerically by a continuation method with a secant predictor and a GMRES corrector with line search. Numerical results with computer graphic output are reported.
