The authors obtain bounds for the Appell function \(F_ 2(a,b,b',c,c';x,y)\) as the two variables tend to the singular point \(z=1\) from the upper half plane which are shown to be uniform in the special cases considered (i) when the hypergeometric parameters are all real and (ii) when \(a\), \(c\), \(c'\) are real while \(b\) and \(b'\) are complex. Bounds for the function in a few particular cases are also given.
