Let \(M\) be a compact closed manifold with a given volume form \(dx\). Let \(g\) be a \(C^s\) Riemannian metric on \(M\) and let \(\rho\) be a positive \(C^s\) function on \(M\) for \(0\leq s\leq 1\). Consider the eigenfunction problem \(Df=d^*(gdf)+\lambda^2\rho f=0\). It is known that there exists an orthonormal basis \(\phi_j\) of eigenfunctions with eigenvalues \(\lambda_j\rightarrow\infty\). Let \(q=\infty\) or let \(2\leq 2(n+1)/(n-1)\). The authors establish \(L^q\) bounds on the eigenfunctions \(\phi_j\) and more generally on spectrally localized functions (spectral clusters). They also exhibit examples showing the bounds so obtained are the best possible.
