The authors study the following iterative method for solving nonlinear irregular equations \(F(x)=y\), \(\| y^{\delta}-y \| \leq \delta\) with smooth operators having Lipschitz continuous derivatives \(F^{\prime}\) in the Hilbert space setting: \(x_{k+1}=x_k-h F^{\prime *}((x_k+x_{k+1})/2)(F(x_k)-y^{\delta})\). The convergence is established under the nonlinearity condition \(\| F(x)-F(\tilde x)-F^{\prime}(x)(x-\tilde x)\| \leq \eta \| F(x)-F(\tilde x)\|\), \(\eta \in (0,1/2)\).
