    Let \(C\) be a curve in \(\mathbb{P}^ r\) over an algebraically closed field \(K\). Put \(S=K[x_ 0,\dots,x_ r]\) and \({\mathfrak m}=(x_ 0,\dots,x_ r)\). Denote by \(M(C)=\oplus_{n\in\mathbb{Z}}H^ 1(\mathbb{P}^ r,{\mathcal I}_ C(n))\) the Hartshorne-Rao module of \(C\). Then there is a uniquely defined nonnegative integer \(k=k(C)\) such that \({\mathfrak m}^ kM(C)=0\). In this context, \(C\) is called strictly \(k\)-Buchsbaum. By a monomial curve in \(\mathbb{P}^ 3\) we mean a curve with generic zero \((s^ d,s^{d-a}t^ a,s^{d-b}t^ b,t^ d)\). The paper gives a complete classification of all strictly 2-Buchsbaum monomial curves in \(\mathbb{P}^ 3\) in terms of \(a,b,d\). The classification of strictly 1-Buchsbaum monomial curves in \(\mathbb{P}^ 3\) was given earlier by \textit{H. Bresinsky}, \textit{P. Schenzel} and \textit{W. Vogel} [ in Prepr. Ser., Aarhus Univ. 1980/81, No. 6 (1980; Zbl 0463.14007) and J. Algebra 86, 283-301 (1984; Zbl 0532.14016)]. An algorithm for computing \(k(C)\) of an arbitrary monomial curve in \(\mathbb{P}^ 3\) will be given in a forthcoming joint paper of the author with \textit{H. Bresinsky}, \textit{F. Curtis} and \textit{M. Fiorentini}.
