In previous papers [ibid. 2, No. 1, 83-90 (1991; Zbl 0728.57017) and that one reviewed above (see Zbl 0764.57015)], the following question was considered. Let \(L\) be a complex line bundle on an oriented \(n\)- dimensional manifold \(M\) with \(c_ 1(L)^ 2=0\). Is \(L\) the pull-back of a line bundle over \(S^ 2\)? It was proved that this is true if \(n<6\) and false if \(n>6\). Now the remaining case \(n=6\) is also answered by no.
