The authors first obtain a result that compares a mixture of distribution functions, to another distribution function, with respect to the Lorenz stochastic order. Using that, the authors derive another result that compares the order statistics, from two different collections of exponential random variables, with respect to the Lorenz order. Some applications in reliability analysis and auction theory are described.
