The author formulates the notion of quasidifferential operator in a scale of Banach spaces. Scales of Banach spaces of analytic functions have been used when dealing with some nonlinear problems in hydrodynamics. An abstract existence and uniqueness theorem is proved for a nonlocal Cauchy problem. By using an auxiliary conformal mapping, some problems concerning the motion of a liquid are formulated in this framework. As an example of application the problem of parallel-plane unsteady potential motion of a liquid with free boundary is studied.
