For two positive real finite sequences \(\mathbf{x}=(x_i)_{1\leq i\leq n}\) and \(\mathbf{y}=(y_i)_{1\leq i\leq n}\), the sequence \(\mathbf{x}\) is said to be majorized by \(\mathbf{y}\), if for all convex functions \(f\) the inequality \(\sum f(x_i)\leq\sum f(y_i)\) holds, and we write \(\mathbf{x}\leq_{\text{maj}}\mathbf{y}\). We say \(\mathbf{x}\) is power majorized by \(\mathbf{y}\), if \(\sum x_i^p\leq \sum y_i^p\) for all real \(p\notin [0,1]\) and \(\sum x_i^p\geq \sum y_i^p\) for \(p\in [0,1]\), and we write \(\mathbf{x}\leq_p\mathbf{y}\). In the paper under review, using the theory of majorization, the author studies sequences involving sums of powers of some certain sequences; especially, there are some results concerning the sum \(\sum_{i=1}^n i^r\). Then, he gives some examples of \(\mathbf{x}\leq_p\mathbf{y}\nRightarrow\mathbf{x}\leq_{\text{maj}}\mathbf{y}\), which is a question due to \textit{A. Clausing} [in: General inequalities 4. In memoriam Edwin F. Beckenbach. 4th International Conference on General Inequalities, Oberwolfach, May 8--14 (1983; Zbl 0573.00004)].
