Fano manifolds and vector bundles (Q1204246): Difference between revisions

The authors give a complete classification of pairs \((X,{\mathcal E})\), where \(X\) is a compact complex manifold, and \({\mathcal E}\) is an ample vector bundle on \(X\), such that: \(\text{rk}({\mathcal E})=\dim X-1\), \(c_ 1({\mathcal E})=c_ 1(X)\), when \(\dim X\geq 5\) or \(\dim X=3\). They also discuss the case when \(\dim X=4\). The classification extends results of various authors concerning the analogous problem for \(\text{rk}({\mathcal E})\geq\dim X\). The link with Mori theory is provided by \(\mathbb{P}({\mathcal E})\), which is a Fano manifold of index \(\text{rk}({\mathcal E})\). The proof of the classification result is based upon the study of a contraction of \(\mathbb{P}({\mathcal E})\), different from the one given by the projection to \(X\).
