Noncommutative recurrence over locally compact Hausdorff groups (Q2497382): Difference between revisions

The authors extend their previous results on noncommutative recurrence in unital *-algebras over the integers to the case where one works over locally compact Hausdorff groups and suitable subsemigroups. The main result is an extention of Khinchine's recurrence theorem, which is used to prove a multiple recurrence result. The main tool is the mean ergodic theorem in Hilbert space, which is reviewed in the paper.
