The problem of determining heat transfer and friction factor in the laminar pipe flow of a gas is solved numerically. In particular, the paper considers high heating rates whereby thermodynamic and transport property variations due to temperature differences are large. The boundary conditions are either a uniform wall heat flux ora uniform wall temperature. The authors make use of the boundary layer equations and solve them numerically by an implicit finite difference scheme.
