The Fibonacci groups \(F(2,n)\) are \(n\) generator, \(n\) relator groups defined by \(F(2,n)=\langle x_1, x_2,\dots, x_n \mid x_ix_{i+1}=x_{i+2}, i=1,2,\dots, n\rangle\), where suffixes are taken modulo \(n\). It is a result of [\textit{H. Helling} et al., J. Lie Theory 8, No. 1, 1--23 (1998; Zbl 0896.20026)] that when \(n=2m\) is even and \(m\geq 4\), then these groups are the fundamental groups of certain hyperbolic manifolds. Furthermore, the software package KBMAG (see [\url{https://homepages.warwick.ac.uk/~mareg/download/kbmag2}] can be used to show that \(F(2,9)\) is hyperbolic and the group \(F(2,6)\) is not hyperbolic, since it contains a free abelian subgroup of rank \(2\). When \(n<8\) the remaining groups are finite. The main result proved here is that for \(n\) odd and \(n\geq 11\), the group \(F(2,n)\) is hyperbolic.
