The following theorem is proved which generalizes a result of \textit{R. H. Escobales} jun. and \textit{P. E. Parker} [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 37, No.2, 333-339 (1988)]: Let \(\pi\) : \(M\to B\) be a Riemannian submersion with totally umbilical fibres V. If all the fibres V are compact and have quasi-negative Ricci curvatures, then M is locally a warped product.
