The author continues his study of complex representations of finite monoids [Part I, Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., III. Ser. 73, No. 3, 623-641 (1996; Zbl 0860.20051)]. First, it is shown that the complex semigroup algebra \(\mathbb{C}[M]\) of any finite regular monoid \(M\) is quasi-hereditary. Next, the concept of a monoid quiver determined by \(M\) is introduced. This quiver is then computed in terms of certain characters of the unit group \(G\) of \(M\). The relation to the ordinary quiver of the algebra \(\mathbb{C}[M]\) is studied. These results are then applied to the case of the full transformation semigroup \({\mathcal T}_n\). In particular, the blocks of \(\mathbb{C}[{\mathcal T}_n]\) are determined. By considering the quivers of the algebras \(\mathbb{C}[{\mathcal T}_n]\), \(n\geq 5\), it is shown that these algebras are not of finite representation type. This answers a question of \textit{J. S. Ponizovskij} [Zap. Nauchn. Semin. Leningr. Otd. Mat. Inst. Steklova 160, 229-238 (1987; Zbl 0626.20052)] in the negative. It is worth stressing that the semigroups \({\mathcal T}_n\) play a crucial role for all finite semigroups, as symmetric groups do for finite groups. However, a representation theory of the algebras \(\mathbb{C}[{\mathcal T}_n]\) has only recently been developed through the work of the author.
