The author shows that normalizers and \(p\)-normalizers of maximal tori in \(p\)-compact groups can be characterized by the Euler characteristic of the associated homogeneous spaces. Using it he also proves that the normalizer of a maximal torus of the centralizer is given by the centralizer of preferred homomorphism to the normalizer of a maximal torus. This result may be useful in connection with the centralizer decomposition of a classifying space \(BX\) of a \(p\)-compact group \(X\) and \(N\)-conjecture for it.
