Let \(M\) be a quaternionic Kähler spin manifold of dimension 4n with positive scalar curvature \(k\). The authors prove the following estimation for the minimal eigenvalue \(\lambda\) of the Dirac operator of \(M\): \[ \lambda^2 \geq \frac{n+3}{n+2} \frac{k}{4}. \] This estimation was conjectured by \textit{O. Hijazi} and \textit{J.-L. Milhorat} [Ann. Global Anal.Geom. 15, 117-131 (1997; Zbl 0876.53021)] and it becomes equality for the quaternionic projective space. The proof is based on some universal matrix Weitzenböck formula, which is of independent interest.
