This paper discusses adaptivity achieved through point enrichment, point derefinement and point movement applied on general grids. A flexible data structure is described together with suitable strategies for adaptively refining a computational grid. Applications are presented of adaptive grid refinement for two-dimensional compressible flow simulation.
