Schrödinger operators are constructed where the interaction is given by a product of a positive Radon measure \(m\) and a bounded measurable function \(\gamma\), i.e. \(H= -\Delta+ \gamma m\). That means they include both regular potential perturbations \(-\Delta+ V\) and singular interactions on arbitrary sets of Lebesgue measure zero. An explicit expression for the resolvent of \(H\) is given, such that the spectral data of \(H\) can be studied. Sufficient conditions are given such that the essential spectrum is \([0,\infty)\), the singularly continuous spectrum is empty, the set of positive eigenvalues is discrete. The number of bound states is estimated. Moreover, singular perturbations on manifolds of codimension one are studied in some detail.
