We identify the spurious modes in the three-dimensional collocation implementation of the Kleiser-Schumann method with two non-periodic directions. A simple correction procedure which will automatically filter these spurious modes is discussed. This correction procedure is applied to the simulation of a turbulent square duct flow and is found to be very effective in eliminating all the spurious modes.
