    Let \(kG\) be the group algebra of a finite group \(G\) over a perfect field \(k\) of characteristic \(p\), and let \(\Gamma\) be a connected component of the stable Auslander-Reiten quiver of \(kG\). This is a continuation of part I [ibid. 208, No. 3, 411-436 (1991; Zbl 0725.20015)] written by the second author. It improves the result of its theorem A in the case where the tree class of \(\Gamma\) is \(A_ \infty\) and treats the case where the minimal vertex is a four group, which was excluded in part I. Let \(vx(X)\) denote the vertex of an indecomposable \(kG\)-module \(X\). Assume that \(\Gamma\) contains non-periodic modules with distinct vertices. The main theorem of the paper says that: Then \(\Gamma \cong {\mathbf Z}T\) and either (i) \(T : X_ 1 - X_ 2 - X_ 3 - X_ 4 - \dots \) with \(vx(X_ 4) = vx(X_ 5) = \dots\) such that either (ia) \(vx(X_ 1) < vx(X_ 2) = vx(X_ 3) = vx(X_ 4)\), (ib) \(vx(X_ 1) = vx(X_ 2) < vx(X_ 3) = vx(X_ 4)\) with \(p = | vx(X_ 3) : vx(X_ 2)| = 2\) or (ic) \(vx(X_ 1) < vx(X_ 2) = vx(X_ 3) < vx(X_ 4)\) with \(p = | vx(X_ 4) : vx(X_ 3) | = 2\), or (ii) \(T \cong A^ \infty_ \infty\), \(\{vx(X) : X \in \Gamma\} = \{P, Q\}\), up to \(G\)-conjugate, \(Q < P\), \(p = | P : Q| = 2\) and either (iia) the modules with vertex \(Q\) (resp. \(P\)) form a subquiver \(\Gamma_ Q\) (resp. \(\Gamma_ P\)) of \(\Gamma\) such that \(\Gamma_ Q \cong \Gamma_ P \cong {\mathbf Z}A_ \infty\), or (iib) \(Q\) is a four group, \(P\) is the dihedral group of order 8 and the modules with vertex \(Q\) lie in two or four adjacent \(\tau\)- orbits. The proof requires the results proved in part I and the equivalence between certain categories. In the case where \(G\) is a \(p\)- group, this was already proved by Erdmann.
