The author considers quasi-hereditary algebras \(A\) with a decomposition \(_ CA_ B \cong C \otimes_ S B\), where \(B\), \(C\) and \(S\) are certain subalgebras of \(A\). The main result is about the existence of certain resolutions for simple modules, which are called BGG-resolutions of simple modules, and gives several equivalent conditions for the existence of BGG-resolutions for all simple modules. This seems to have some applications to global dimensions and Lie theory such like the category \({\mathcal O}\) introduced by Bernstein, Gelfand and Gelfand.
