The author considers the problem of Hyers-Ulam stability for the Cauchy equation in \(L_p\) norms. More precisely, let \((Y,\nu)\) be a measure space and let \((E,+,d)\) be a metric Abelian group where we set \(|x|=d(x,0)\) for \(x\in E\), for \(p>0\) define \[ L^+_p(Y,E)=\{f:Y\to F:\exists\varphi\in L_1(Y,\mathbb{R}),\quad|f(x)|^p\leq\varphi(x)\}. \] The following theorem holds. Theorem. Let \((X,+,\Sigma,\mu)\) be a complete measurable group and let \(f:X\to E\) be such a mapping that \({\mathcal C}f\in L^+_p(X\times X,E)\) \(({\mathcal C}f(x,y):=f(x+y)-f(x)-f(y))\) for certain \(p>0\). Then \[ {\mathcal C}f(x,y)=0\quad\mu\times\mu-\text{a.e.} \] and there exists a unique additive function \(a:X\to E\) such that \[ f(x)=a(x)\quad\mu-\text{a.e.} \] Analogous results are proved for the Jensen and Pexider equations.
