[The articles of this volume will be reviewed individually (see the following reviews below).] The book ``Gabor analysis and algorithms'' edited by \textit{H. G. Feichtinger} and \textit{T. Strohmer} is the first book devoted to the subject of Gabor analysis. According to the aim of the authors to cover a wide range of topics of Gabor analysis and to give a broad audience a survey of the present state of the field, the book consists of 14 chapters written by scientists with varying motivation and scientific background. The first part of the book emphasizes theoretical questions arising from mathematical problems while the second part addresses numerical algorithms and a variety of applications. All well-written chapters built up on a unified terminology. They are sufficiently self-contained to allow readers with general background from different fields to profit from it. A comprehensive bibliography completes this interesting book on aspects of Gabor analysis. Indexed articles: \textit{Feichtinger, Hans G.; Strohmer, Thomas}, Introduction, 1-31, 453-488 [Zbl 0890.42005] \textit{Janssen, A. J. E.
