The Pauli operator describes the energy of a nonrelativistic spin 1/2 particles in a magnetic field \(B\) and an scalar potential \(V\). The Lieb-Thirring inequalities give upper bounds of the sum of the negative eigenvalues of the Pauli operators in terms of functionals of \(B\) and \(V\). Using a localization argument, this paper presents a new Lieb-Thirring inequality which yields a bound that (i) grows linearly in \(B\); (ii) depends on \(V\) in a natural way; (iii) has the locality property: the size of \(B\) away from the support of \(V\) is irrelevant.
