Das von Herrn Schwarz in Borchardt J. LXXXVII. 139; s. F. d. M. XI. 1879. 262 (JFM 11.0262.01), für diese Gleichungen unter Betrachtung der Riemann'schen Fläche hergeleitete Theorem, welches hier in folgender Form ausgesprochen wird: ``Wenn eine irreductible algebraische Gleichung zwischen zwei veränderlichen Grössen die Eigenschaft hat, durch eine Schaar rationaler eindeutig umkehrbarer Transformationen in sich selbst überzugehen, so ist der Rang der algebraischen Gleichung gleich Null oder Eins'', wird von Herrn Hettner rein algebraisch mit Hülfe von Sätzen aus der Theorie der algebraischen Functionen bewiesen.
