Für den bekannten Steiner'schen Satz, dass von allen Figuren mit gleichem Umfang der Kreis den grössen Inhalt hat, wird ein neuer Beweis mitgetheilt. Neun Hülfssätze über Maxima und Minima bei ebenen isoperimetrischen Figuren sind vorausgeschickt, z. B. folgender: Von allen Polygonen mit \(2^n\) Seiten und gegebenen Umfange ist das reguläre Polygon das Maximum.
