The Whitney forms constitute a nice class of finite elements specially well designed for three-dimensional computations in electromagnetism. This paper analyzes the idea that the construction of Whitney forms can be viewed as an interpolation of a special kind on the one-hand, and then, applies this idea to pyramids, on the other hand. Corresponding new Whitney elements on pyramids are proved to meet all the requirements and possess reasonable approximation properties. The study of interpolation errors in Sobolev norms is included; the paper does not contain any numerical experiment.
