This paper deals with a generalization of hypoelasticity in order to include all of elasticity. This is performed by replacing the isotropy property of the stress-dependent hypoelasticity tensor by the invariance property with respect to the conjugate of a suitable ``initial material symmetry group'' here defined. Conversely, the authors investigate in detail the integrability conditions on hypoelasticity to obtain elasticity.
