Let \((A,\Gamma)\) be a \(C^*\)-dynamical system, where \(A\) is a separable unital \(C^*\)-algebra on which a discrete group \(\Gamma\) acts by \(*\)--automorphisms. For a positive integer \(n,\) the authors define a property for such a system, which they call the \(n\)-filling property. If \(A=C(\Omega)\) for a compact space \(\Omega\) and the action on \(C(\Omega)\) is given by an action of \(\Gamma\) on \(\Omega,\) this property corresponds to a hyperbolicity condition. The \(n\)-filling property is used to show that, under some additional assumptions, the corresponding reduced crossed product algebra is purely infinite and simple. A substantial part of the paper is devoted to the study of classes of explicit examples. For instance, let \(G\) be a non-compact semisimple real Lie group and \(\Omega\) its Furstenberg boundary. Then the action of any Zariski dense subgroup \(\Gamma\) of \(G\) on \(\Omega\) has the \(n\)-filling property. This also holds if \(\Gamma\) is a group acting properly and cocompactly on a building \(\Delta\) and if \(\Omega\) is the boundary of \(\Delta.\) For related work, see \textit{M. Laca} and \textit{J. Spielberg} [J. Reine Angew. Math. 480, 125-139 (1996; Zbl 0863.46044)] and \textit{C. Anantharaman-Delaroche} [Bull. Soc. Math. Fr. 125, No. 2, 199-225 (1997; Zbl 0896.46044)].
