The authors present a two-dimensional closed-form solution for free vibrations of simply supported piezoelectric sandwich plates. The authors consider all components of electric field and displacement, thus satisfying exactly the electric equilibrium equation. Besides, the formulation uses full layerwise first-order shear deformation theory and through-thickness quadratic electric potential. Mechanical and electric variables are separated using Fourier series expansions, and then are substituted in mechanical and electric two-dimensional equations of motion.
