Using an approximation procedure and the theory of pseudomonotone operators, the author proves an existence result for the implicit Cauchy problem \[ \frac{d}{dt}(Bu(t))+Au(t)+Gu(t)=f,\;\text{ a.e.} t\in (0,T), \qquad Bu(0)=Bu_0, \] where \(V\) is a real Hilbert space, \(V'\) is its topological dual, \(B:V\to V'\) is a linear bounded, symmetric and positive operator, \(A:V\to V'\) is monotonone, and \(G:V\to V'\) is both weakly and strongly continuous and satisfies a certain pseudomonotonicity condition.
