Let \(K\) denote the field of fractions of \(W\), the ring of Witt vectors with coefficients in an algebraically closed field of odd characteristic \(p\). Let \(X\) be a curve of genus \(g \geq 2\) over \(K\), which has stable reduction over \(W\), and let \(J\) denote the Jacobian of \(X\). For any \(K\)-rational point \(x_0 \in X(K)\), the Albanese embedding yields an injection \[ \varphi_{x_0}: X^{\text{cl}} _{\overline K} \to J^{\text{cl}} _{\overline K}. \] It is conjectured that under some additional suppositions, for any \(x \in X^{\text{cl}} _{\overline K}\) one has: if \(\varphi_{x_0}(x)\) is a torsion point, then it must be rational over \(K\). The main result (Theorem 3.4) of this paper shows that under some rather weak conditions one has that at least \(p \cdot\varphi_{x_0}(x)\) is \(K\)-rational.
