It is demonstrated that a symplectomorphism isotopic to the identity, satisfying some constraints on its flux and possessing a non-contractible hyperbolic periodic orbit, possesses also infinitely many periodic points. The result holds for a class of symplectic manifolds containing products of some surfaces with complex projective spaces. This result fits in a Gürel variant of the conjecture by \textit{H. Hofer} and \textit{E. Zehnder} [Symplectic invariants and Hamiltonian dynamics. Basel: Birkhäuser (1994; Zbl 0805.58003)], claiming the existence of infinitely many periodic points provided that there is a fixed point which is unnecessary from a homological or geometrical perspective. The theorem is a symplectic analogue of a result by \textit{V. L. Ginzburg} and \textit{B. Z. Gürel} [Duke Math. J. 163, No. 3, 565--590 (2014; Zbl 1408.53112)] for Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms. Note however that, in general, a symplectomorphism need not have periodic points, whereas, for many symplectic manifolds, a Hamiltonian diffeomorphism has an infinite number of periodic points.
