The long time behaviour of a linearized model for fluid-structure interaction is analyzed. The space domain consists of two parts in which the evolution is governed by the heat equation and the wave equation, respectively, with the transition conditions at the interface. Using asymptotic expansions in geometric optics, the authors show the lack of the uniform exponential decay. On the other hand, under a geometric control condition, they derive the polynomial decay rate of smooth solutions.
