A convolution theorem for the Poisson transform on compactly supported distributions is obtained. Applying the convolution theorem, the Poisson transform is extended as a linear continuous map from a suitable Boehmian space into another Boehmian space satisfying the convolution theorem. The introduction of Boehmian spaces by \textit{P.\,Mikusinski} [Jap.\ J.\ Math., New Ser.\ 9, 159--179 (1983; Zbl 0524.44005)] opened a new avenue in extending integral transforms. The construction of an abstract Boehmian space was given in [loc.\,cit.] with two notions of convergence. Later, various Boehmian spaces have been defined, and also various integral transforms have been extended to them [see, e.g., \textit{R.\,Roopkumar}, Bull.\ Inst.\ Math., Acad.\ Sin.\ (N.\,S.) 4, No.\,1, 75--96 (2009; Zbl 1182.46030)].
