Dyck's regular map \(\{3,8\}_6\) on a surface of genus 3 is realized as a polyhedron in \(E^3\) with self-intersections and with (maximal possible) tetrahedral symmetry group. The construction uses two octahedra and certain ''tunnels'' between them. Remark: Recently a polyhedral model in \(E^3\) without selfintersections (and less symmetry) of the same map has been constructed by J. Bokowski.
