The theory of this paper is based on the fact that \(B\)-splines can be represented by a contour integral. From this relation, recursion formulas for \(B\)-splines and their derivatives of any order and partial derivatives with respect to the knots are obtained and proved. Besides, a generalized knot insertion formula is given and proved.
