This paper essentially deals with implementational issues for the version of the amplitude-phase method presented by \textit{N. B. Konyukhova, S. E. Mosalovich} and \textit{I. B. Staroverova} [Zh. Vychisl. Mat. Fiz. 35, No. 3, 360-379 (1995; Zbl 0843.65056)]. The choice of preconditioning function, as well as the computation of the phase shift, is addressed along with issues related to error control and mesh selection. Some numerical examples are included to illustrate the efficiency of the method.
