The Lamb's point-load problem considers the wave generated at the surface of an elastic half-space by the application of concentrated load at the surface or inside the half-space. The known analytical solution of this problem is expressed through complicated mathematical formulas (e.g. integrals of rapidly oscillatory functions over semi-infinite intervals, and inversion of one-sided (time) Laplace transforms). These features makes a conventional numerical solution difficult to perform. This paper presents a new numerical solution done by a variety of numerical techniques. The presentation is clear and detailed; the results obtained are shown in 14 figures.
