The concept of uniform covering map is well known. Suppose \(X\) has a uniform structure and \(E\) is an entourage, then the ball \(B(x,E)\) is the set of all \(y\in X\) such that \((x,y)\in E\). Then a map \(f : X\to Y\) is a uniform covering map if \(f\) generates the uniform structure on \(Y\) and if there is a basis \({\mathcal E}\) for the uniform structure on \(X\) such that for each \(E\in{\mathcal E}\), \(f\) maps \(B(x,E)\) bijectively onto \(B(f(x) f(E))\). In a previous paper, [Houston J. Math. 39, No. 2, 667--699 (2013; Zbl 1278.55024)], the present authors introduced the concept of generalized uniform covering maps. In this paper they investigate when these covering maps are induced by group actions. This allows the study of the relation with the definition of generalized covering map introduced by Berestovskii and Plaut. As an application they give a new exposition of the Prajs homogeneous curve that is path-connected and not locally connected.
